There’s nothing like going out of town and getting sick once you arrive. I spent my entire trip to san clemente locked up in my hotel room.
Solitary confinement with a huge dose of self pity.
The worst.
My days were spent hydrating and watching an endless amount of documentaries, while hoping that my room didn’t smell out to the hallway. I made the mistake of ordering a fabulous beef stroganoff with a side of Brussel sprouts when I arrived, before getting deathly ill with a stomach bug later that night. I had no idea the “side” would wind up actually being enough Brussel sprouts to feed a family of four.
Needless to say, they stayed in the to-go container for the duration of my sickness. Since Brussel sprouts are not on the top of the “sick in bed with a stomach bug” menu, they were left to mature and really develop their already questionable odor. I’m quite sure housekeeping was concerned with that initial smell upon entering my room when I left.
Damn those Brussels!
