I had to take a trip to Sephora for mascara.
I was down to the dry paste that only leaves clumps and chunks on your eyelashes, not exactly the look I was going for. Inevitably, I found myself in the lip gloss aisle, per usual.
It always starts with a casual drive-by. Then rationalizing about how there may be something new that I haven’t seen yet. Next thing you know, the back of my hand is full of sample glosses, and I’ve used a shameful amount of tissue wiping my hand clean only to reapply.
This time was a little different, though.
This time I sampled a lip-plumping lip gloss on my hand. I didn’t think anything of it initially. But about 20 minutes later, in my car, I noticed my hand itching and burning. I promptly discovered thick red, raised lines where the plumping gloss had been.
All I could think is “this is what I get.”
My obsession with new lip gloss had finally bit me in the ass.
An allergic reaction was the result of my lack of self-control.
Fortunately, as soon as I washed my hands with soap, it all disappeared. Lesson learned? Hardly!
Until next time Sephora!
